New Glaiza de Castro film ‘Kahel’ to hit Canadian silver screens in Sept
Just when we thought a burst of orange couldn’t be more orangey, here comes Glaiza de Castro with her film “Kahel” set to hit the silver screens across Canada.
After her wedding bells rang back in January, she will now make some noise in the Land of Maple Leaf this September for a new cinematic masterpiece.
A film that was two years in the making due to its production pause amid COVID-19, de Castro is now poised to make her grand entry onto the Canadian spotlight.
“Day 1. After two years, we are finally able to start!” she raved in an old Instagram post, excited to start filming again after two years.

On Nov. 10 2022, she gave a glimpse of the first day on set in Ontario, Canada. Although frozen in time, her exhilaration about shooting the film again was a testament to what unfolded behind the scenes.
Set in Canada, “Kahel” features a woman who moved to the Great North to be with her beau but, similar to what some hardworking Filipinos in Canada might have experienced, de Castro’s character lands a job with some conflicts due to the real nature of the business.
‘Kahel’s’ teaser would leave you thinking
Canadian-based TV channel Filipino TV dropped the second teaser on Facebook that left us all at the edge of our seats. Adding an air of mystery to the real story, the caption teases, “In a time where so much was lost, when is an opportunity too much of a gamble?”
Starring alongside de Castro is a cast of Filipino-Canadian actors that include Gino Gardiola, Nikita Emtsov, and Resflo. “Kahel” is the latest in de Castro’s impressive filmography. From the gripping “Midnight in a Perfect World” to the heart-wrenching “Liway,” “Still Life,” and “Astig,” de Castro’s film collections are masterpieces of storytelling.
We won’t be surprised if “Kahel” would be the talk of the town when it arrives on Canadian screens.
