PH team bests Australia, Mexico in Vancouver fireworks face-off

A fireworks team from the Philippines was declared the winner of Vancouver’s annual Celebration of Life fireworks festival July 22, 26, 29.

Blue Peacock staged the final show Saturday, July 29, besting teams representing Australia and Mexico.
The 125th Philippine Independence Day anniversary was Blue Peacock’s winning theme.

The Philippines joined the competition for the first time. Robert Basihan, Blue Peacock’s show designer said he had been sending letters to join the event since 2015 and finally got in after eight years. Basihan said it took six months of planning to pull off the performance.
