Two free divers found dead under water off Oahu
HONOLULU – Two experienced free divers died Sunday, July 23 off Oahu, Hawaii’s North Shore.
Raymond Tudela, 32, and 28-year old Rupert Babauta were brothers-in-law who were employees at Windward Auto dealership.
The two men were free diving, apparently spear fishing, near Velzyland off Oahu’s North Shore early Sunday and were reported missing hours after going out.

Rescuers later found both dead under water. Authorities have yet to determine what led to their deaths.
Free divers hold their breath under water and do not use scuba breathing equipment.
Along with the dealership’s support, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with funeral and other expenses.
