Tattoo Artists Warn Against These Cursed Designs

/ 09:59 PM March 19, 2023

Tattoos have become increasingly popular as a form of self-expression, but not all designs are equal.

Some tattoos even have a “curse.” And artists warn against getting these inks on your skin.

Artists caution against lovers getting each other’s name tattoos on their bodies, despite many perceiving it as a romantic gesture to express affection.

One artist from Markd Tattoo in Australia said in a TikTok post, “Don’t do it. It’s like a curse, and you’ll probably break up the following week if you do it. I wouldn’t recommend it.”

The TikTok video surveys 4 male artists at the studio for their thoughts on the style. A woman asked, “How do you feel about couples getting their partner’s name tattooed on them?” The first artist responded, “Oi, don’t.”

He added, “Unless you’ve got kids or you’re married. If not, it’s bad luck.” Three other artists working at the same shop shared the same belief and regard that it frequently results in remorse and a more costly cover-up later on.

Thoughts From Some Tattoo Artists

The artists readily agreed, their focus still on inking other clients’ bodies, that they would never suggest getting a tattoo of your partner’s name without any apparent hesitation and with minimal eye contact.

The diligent artists expressed their reluctance to carry out these inks for clients, ranging from a straightforward “don’t do it” to more elaborate justifications as to why they believed it was unwise.

Furthermore, one of the artists went beyond that, asserting that getting tattoos of your partner’s name might even bring about a “curse” on your relationship.

However, one of the shop’s artists provided a condition for getting an ink of someone’s name.

Another artist agreed, saying it was a ‘pretty bad idea,’ but added that he tattooed his partner’s name on his arm before quickly showing it to the camera. He continued, “Here’s the one I have, but it’s my wife, so….”

The third artist, who donned a mask while working on his client, plainly said, “It’s just a tattoo.” A fourth artist went into more detail when asked the same question.

People shared their insights regarding the widespread practice of getting tattoos of one’s partner on their body in response to the video.

Stories from Couples Who Have These Tattoos

One person disagreed with the artists’ viewpoint by stating, “Nah, it’s not a curse. My man got my name as his first tattoo after a year together. We’re married now, 5 years together.”

Another person wrote, “My dad has my mom’s whole face on his arm.” However, the user did not disclose whether his parents were still together.

Another user wrote, “My friend did that a month into dating someone, been married for 10 years.”

One person posted, “I have tattooed my husband’s name. We are happily married!” Well, it hasn’t been the same for everyone; some have experienced the ‘curse.’

“Best friend was engaged, got her fiancé’s name on her body, broke off the engagement a few months later, and said he never wanted to get married,” another commenter shared.

The tattoo parlor in Australia is in Redfern. It is close to the major metropolis of Sydney. It has amassed a significant fan base on social media platforms, particularly on TikTok, with over 101,000 followers.
