Keira Knightley made it clear that she has no plans to return to the film soon as she responded to the rumors of a possible Pirates of the Caribbean return.

The rumors surround Jerry Bruckheimer’s recent statements about reviving the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

She expressed her unlikelihood of rejoining the series, as she wants to keep her character’s departure from the storyline in the films.

Knightley appears to be content with the way her character, Elizabeth Swann, concluded her act in the iconic franchise.

She was recently asked by Entertainment Tonight about a possible return to the Pirates of the Caribbean series.

The Boston Strangler actor responded, “She sailed away so nicely. She sailed away in brilliant style.”

The news has disappointed fans, as Knightley’s character, Elizabeth Swann, played a significant role in the first three films.

Keira Knightley Reminisces Her Time as Elizabeth Swann

“I loved playing Elizabeth Swann, but I feel like it’s time for me to move on,” Knightley said.

she continued, “I have two young children now and want to spend more time with them. I also want to explore different genres and challenge myself as an actress.”

Later this year, the iconic series of swashbuckling films will celebrate its 20th anniversary, having played a significant role in Knightley’s early film career, along with movies such as Bend it Like Beckham.

It is noteworthy, however, that Knightley confessed to having little recollection of the film, given the wild nature of her professional life during that period, which was instrumental in establishing the foundation for her subsequent career.

Knightley added, “It sort of launched me from a rocket, as far as my career went.” “Love Actually, Bend It Like Beckham, and Pirates of the Caribbean were all in that year.”

She continued, “So, I’m being asked about all three. Unfortunately, I was 16 and 17. So I do not remember much of it, but yes, it was a big year for me.”

Knightley’s remarks followed shortly after the announcement by Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

The producer expressed his desire to revive Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow, for the upcoming movie.

Johnny Depp’s involvement in the project is unclear, as the actor has faced recent legal issues and controversies.

“I would love him to be in the movie – that’s all I can tell you.” He then disclosed the project, saying, “We’re all working on it. We’ll see how it comes out. But we’re all very excited. We’re going to have a great screenplay. We’re getting close.”

Future Plans for Pirates of the Caribbean

Knightley’s absence from the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie is a significant loss for the franchise.

Her portrayal of Elizabeth Swann was a highlight of the first three films, and her character’s relationship with Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp) was a central storyline.

Despite Knightley’s departure, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is still moving forward with a sixth installment.

The movie, which is currently in development, is set to be directed by Joachim Rønning and written by Ted Elliott and Craig Mazin.
