Guillermo del Tora is a Mexican filmmaker who worked on numerous titles, such as “Pacific Rim,” “Kung Fu Panda,” and “The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey.”
Andrew Garfield was the lead protagonist for both “Amazing Spider-Man” films. Moreover, he played Eduardo Saverin in the Mark Zuckerberg movie, “The Social Network.”
Mia Goth was the leading character in Ti West’s “X” movie trilogy, which includes “Pearl,” “X,” and the upcoming “MaXXXine.”
Also, Goth starred in Brandon Cronenberg’s “Infinity Pool.” Additionally, Oscar Isaac played leading roles in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Guillermo del Toro will base his upcoming movie on the story of “Frankenstein, a novel written by Mary Shelley in 1818.
It is about a mad scientist named Dr. Frankenstein performing experiments to create a monster, hence the name “Frankenstein’s Monster.”
The 1931 Universal adaptation of Frankenstein is one of the most critically acclaimed films of all time.
More importantly, it became a pop culture icon, joining the likes of Dracula and the Wolfman. As mentioned, del Toro has not provided more details about the project.
We do not know whether he will set the movie in modern times or turn it into a period piece.
Deadline reports he has “met with” Andrew Garfield, Oscar Isaac, and Mia Goth. Film News UK says Goth would play Dr. Frankenstein’s love interest.
Despite the lack of information, there is a good chance that Frankenstein will become a major hit. After all, it follows after the success of del Toro’s recent remake of “Pinocchio.”
It earned an award for Best Animated Feature Film at this year’s Academy Awards. Thus, Guillermo del Toro called for increased support for animated movies in Hollywood.
