Kim Kardashian’s ‘Makeup-Free’ Selfie Reignites Debate Over Social Media Filters
Kim Kardashian, the Skims founder, shared her latest “unfiltered selfie” on March 6. The internet went abuzz with speculations, praise and also criticisms.
The reality TV star never left her place in the spotlight. With last December’s rumored involvement with basketball star Chris Paul, she is always on top of the headlines.
Recently, Kim Kardashian posted a make-up-free selfie while at her dentist appointment. The 42-year-old queen of contouring was sitting pretty on a dentist’s chair with a disposable bib.

Social media users were quick to comment on her post. Some expressed their adoration, while others threw out the typical jokes. In addition, some fans also questioned whether she used filters.
One user wrote,” I love Kim, and she’s beautiful, but this is still edited.” While some speculated that Kim’s photo has filters, others still believe she shared a raw image without edits.

In September 2022, Kardashian denied ever having gray hair, Glamour reported. She stood firm on this, even with actual footage of her stylist asking for her approval to pluck one gray hair from her head.
Also, in August 2022, she shared with Allure that she has never undergone any cosmetic surgery to her face, only “a little bit of botox.” The reality TV star also claimed she had never had eyelash extensions.
Kardashian wrote, “No. I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today. I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips.”
Her statement may appear contradicting as she once said in an interview that she’s willing to “eat poop” if somebody confirms it would make her look fresh and younger.

Despite the different reactions from fans, it’s important to note that using social media photo enhancements or filters is not a mistake. All women have the right to post a selfie, whether unfiltered or not.
In addition, the Kardashians have affected this generation’s perspective on aging and body image. The reality TV fam is denying the use of any cosmetic surgeries.
Furthermore, Kim Kardashian is still a stunning woman with or without make-up. She is an epitome of a strong independent female after her chaotic relationship and divorce with Kanye West.
It’s good news that the two have been co-parenting with their offspring. Kardashian was even learning to be active on TikTok now with a post that their eldest daughter North had shared.
