Paris Hilton’s Confession on Abortion in Her Early 20s and Overcoming Shame

/ 09:34 AM February 27, 2023

Super celebrity Paris Hilton spoke about undergoing an abortion for the first time in her 20s, but keeping it a secret because of shame. She, however, recently disclosed that more than two decades ago, she almost became a mother.

The celebrity DJ, now 42, had her first child with her current husband, Carter Reum, a venture capitalist. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy, whom they named Phoenix Hilton Reum.

Paris and Carter, also 42, had their son via surrogate and kept the news that they were expecting a child on the low until the baby arrived, sending fans into a frenzy.

She spoke to the February issue of Glamour magazine about her abortion in an interview in which she also recollected sexual harassment she suffered as a teen.

“This was also something I didn’t want to discuss because there was so much shame. I was a child and wasn’t ready for that.”

She stated that she is now ready to speak on her experiences after Roe vs. Wade’s overturning, which has made abortion illegal in some parts of the United States.

“It’s your body, your choice, and I believe that. It is mind-boggling to me that they’re making laws about handling your reproductive health because if the tables were turned with the guys, it wouldn’t be this way at all,” she explained.

Rebuking the “politics around it,” she continued: “It’s a woman’s body… why should there be laws around that?”

Paris Hilton and her Family Life

Paris and her husband are adjusting to life with their newborn, Phoenix, with Paris revealing his name in an excerpt from her forthcoming memoir, expected to be released later in March.

“We will name him Phoenix, a name I decided on years ago when searching through cities, states, and countries on a map for something to go with London and Paris,” she said.

Paris said that she decided to have her son via surrogacy. She was scared pregnancy might reintroduce the trauma of her abortion. Also, she doesn’t want her memories of abuse at her former school for troubled teens, Provo Canyon, Utah.

She recalls experiencing sexual harassment and regularly had blood samples taken and several drips hooked into her veins.

“I’m just so scared. I think, again, going back to Provo of being in a doctor’s office, just all of that,” she said.

“The shots, the IVs that they put in… when I was in ‘The Simple Life,’ I had to be in a room when a woman was giving birth, and that traumatized me as well.”

“But I want a family so bad; it’s just the physical part of doing it. I’m just so scared. Childbirth and death are the two things that scare me more than anything in the world.”

“I want my son to grow up aware that triumph and disaster go and come around throughout our lives. And that this should give us much hope for the future,” she said on a final note.
