Former Household Assistant Sues Khloé Kardashian for Unpaid Wages

/ 09:23 AM February 23, 2023

Media celebrity Khloé Kardashian’s former household assistant has filed a lawsuit for unpaid wages. He claimed he was fired while recovering from a knee injury.

This lawsuit comes just days after news came out that Khloé’s fashion line, Good American, was also being sued by a model for just over $100,0000 with claims that the business didn’t pay her on time.

According to reports, Matthew Manhard worked for Khloé from January 2019 to November 2022. He claimed that Khloé fired him while trying to return to work after a knee injury.

However, the celebrity’s legal counsel disputed the claims, saying, “It’s unfortunate that a former employee would choose this route. Matthew was well classified and compensated for his role.”

In the lawsuit, Manhard explained that he took an injury to the knee back in May. Then, after trying to get back to work in November, they let him go.

Khloé’s legal representative commented on Manhard’s leave. “Toward the end of his employment, he took a leave of absence for a long period, and the role needed to be replaced eventually. We won’t tolerate false accusations and will prove this is a frivolous lawsuit.”

However, Manhard maintains that he could not take his legally required breaks while working for the media personality. Still, she failed to pay him his overtime wages even after working 12-hour days.

He claims that she violated many California labor laws and that working for her was a nightmare. He is seeking monetary compensation for his services, and apparently, he is not alone.

Another case of Khloé Kardashian’s unpaid wage

Earlier this month, a model, Jourdan Whitehead, sued Khloé’s fashion line, claiming she did not receive timely payment.

Supposedly, the model claims Khloé should pay her $3,500 for a day’s work. But she received her paycheck three months later and now insists that she has a late payment penalty fee under the California Labor Code.

Whitehead, who identifies as a “professional actor,” insisted that Good American’s failure to pay her on time was deliberate. Even with the company’s requirement to make the payment on time and was capable of doing so, it chose not to do so.

According to Legal documents, “Labor Code section 203 provides that upon an employer’s failure to make timely payment of wages, the employee’s wages shall continue as a penalty until paid or for a period of up to 30 days from the time the wages came due, whichever period is due.”

Since she was paid more than 30 days after her due payment date, Whitehead claims she is “entitled to an award of penalties of $105,000.00, which is [her] daily rate multiplied by 30 days.”

She also wants Good American to pay her attorney’s fees and other legal expenses. These lawsuits against Khloé are the most recent in a series of legal hassles for the Kardashian family.

Last year, former gardening and maintenance staff sued Khloé’s sister, Kim Kardashian, for allegedly failing to pay staff wages.

Khloé Kardashian is yet to make a public statement on the lawsuit. But others believe her legal team will respond in court. The case is ongoing, and it is unclear when the jury will release a verdict.
