‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 Coming In Summer 2024

Jon Snow might know nothing, but we know the second season of the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon will come out in 2024. 

HBO content CEO Casey Bloys said that a release date around 2024 “is a good guess.” However, that “good guess” also means it won’t come out in time for the 2024 Emmy season. 

Variety asked him whether he focuses on one “Thrones” series at a time. He replied, “I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about.”

Casey Bloys answered questions regarding the upcoming season during an interview with Variety. 

He said that he doesn’t create series based on following a regular release schedule. Instead, Bloys stated, “my philosophy is a good script is number one priority.”

He explained that he would not compromise quality just for fans: 

“There’s properly a natural limit to how many fans want, but I’m open to any as long as we feel really good about the scripts and the prospects for a series.” 

Remember to get ‘House of the Dragon’ following up from ‘Game of Thrones,’ we developed a lot of shows, shot a pilot, developed a bunch of scripts, and we got ‘House of the Dragon,’”

“To do that again is going to take the same amount of effort. You have to develop a lot of things and try things. You never know what’s going to work.”

“You want to do one that everybody’s really proud of and excited about,” Bloys said. He also explained, “I know George [R.R. Martin] feels the same way.”’

If it is the last, the CEO said he is not entertaining a spinoff. “It doesn’t seem to me there’s something in ‘Succession’ where you would go, ‘Let’s follow just this kid’ or whatever.” 

Still, HBO recently announced that a Jon Snow sequel to the Game of Thrones series is in the works.
