A Manitoba delegation is leaving for the Philippines next week to recruit nurses for the Canadian province.
The group of health care leaders is heading to Manila, Cebu and Iloilo for five days of applicant interviews, slated on Feb. 21 to Feb. 25.
The delegation includes Manitoba Advanced Education, Immigration and Skills Minister Jon Reyes, according to CBC News.
The first major recruitment of Filipino health care professional was in 2000, boosting Manitoba’s Filipino population, the largest, in Canada.
The College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba’s internationally educated nurses’ web page has seen 37,000 visits, almost half of those from the Philippines, according to Winnipeg City News.
