Fil-Canadian youth to gather in Ottawa leadership conference

A national leadership conference for Filipino Canadian youth will be held in Ottawa from Friday, Feb. to Sunday, Feb. 26.

Founded in 2018, Pinoys on Parliament: National Youth Leadership Conference, also known as POP, is a yearly national youth leadership gathering for young Filipino Canadians to network and explore issues facing students and the Filipino community as a whole.

POP was initiated by members of the Filipino Students Association of University of Ottawa (FILSAUO) to address the under-representation of Filipino Canadians in Parliament and politics in general.

During its inaugural year 2019, more a hundred Filipino Canadian youth across Canada gathered in the nation’s capital to listen to prominent Filipino Canadian leaders, including the first Filipino Member of Parliament Dr. Rey Pagtakhan, first Filipino Assistant Deputy Minister Amelita Armit, The Social’s Melissa Grelo and YouTube personality Elle Mills.
