From ‘Frozen 3’ to ‘Inside Out 2’: Which Upcoming Sequel Has You the Most Excited?
Disney is a powerhouse for animated movies, and kids and adults always have something entertaining to look forward to.
A perfect example would be the “Toy Story” franchise; one Twitter fan gave insight into how his dream “Toy Story 5” would play out.
For him, “Andy” – the boy who owns “Woody, the Cowboy” and “Buzz Lightyear” – would be all grown now with kids.
Like they did for “Andy,” the toys would form a part of his kid’s life. Though he mentioned it was just something he hopes for, it’s a good storyline.

“Today, I’m pleased to announce that we have some sequels in the works to some of our most popular franchises from our animation studios, including Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia,” he said.
“We will have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a good example of how we’re leaning into our unmatched brands and franchises.”
Iger also stated that Pandora is coming to the West Coast with an “Avatar Experience” that will be coming to Disneyland in Anaheim.
At the moment, Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando features “Pandora – The World of Avatar.” It is an area for James Cameron’s creations. It features only two rides, “Avatar Flight of Passage” and “Na’vi River Journey.”
Bob Iger announced that two new sequels to massive franchises — “Toy Story” and “Frozen” — were in development. The sequel to animated comedy “Zootopia” was also announced. https://t.co/E60fc2PmSO

Disney Animated Film Sequels to Come
Most Disney faithful would recall that on February 5, the second “Avatar” film, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” surpassed “Titanic” to become the third-biggest international movie in box office history.
That wouldn’t be all we are to see. They also plan to release 3 more films in the “Avatar” saga in the coming years. The fans are in for a good treat if they are anything like the previous ones.
Most animated movie fans have taken to social media to express excitement and hope these developments come soon enough.
The first “Frozen” film debuted in 2013 and was an instant success. “Frozen II,” which was its sequel, was released in 2019 and made more than $1.4 billion at the worldwide box office.

With such success,” Frozen III” would most likely follow its predecessors’ steps. Frozen 2’s “Into the Unknown” received a nomination at the 2020 Oscars for Best Original Song.
“Frozen I” won two Oscars in 2014 for Best Animated Feature. It also won Best Song for Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez’s anthem “Let It Go.” The song went 8x platinum with 8 million units sold stateside.
On the other hand, the “Toy Story” franchise comprises 4 theatrical chapters and one spin-off: 2022’s “Light year.”
Based on the success of the previous movies, “Lightyear” is said to have underperformed since “Toy Story 3” and “Toy Story 4” both earned over a billion US dollars at the worldwide box office.
Upcoming Toy Story 4
Toy Story 4 received nominations for two Oscars in 2020. Randy Newman’s original song “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away.”
The film also won Best Animated Feature. The Toy Story franchise counts $3.03 billion through the four movies at the global box office.

Zootopia, released in 2016, made $1.02 billion, and fans can’t wait for the sequel. Most of them are hoping to have a glimpse of the backstory since the movie was a hit. Zootopia did go on to win an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2017.
We can only have our fingers crossed in anticipation, even though Disney’s original films of late have grossed relatively low.
An example is “Strange World,” which got under $74M worldwide and was fast-tracked onto Disney+ close to a month after its theatrical release.
Another is” Encanto,” released at Thanksgiving 2021, but did just over $256M global and only $96M stateside.
There is the consolation that it was at a time when families were making their way back to theaters because of the Covid restrictions.
“Frozen” and “Inside Out” are both fantastic movies; hopefully, we can expect amazing sequels from them.
