Fil-Am high school senior now heads prestigious int’l honor society
A Filipino American teen who is still a senior at Waipahu High School in Honolulu now heads a prestigious international honor society for community college students.
Keziah Christie Ancheta, 18, was just elected as the youngest leader ever of Phi Theta Kappa, with a worldwide membership and a hundred-year history, reports Jim Mendoza of Hawaii News Now.
Ancheta, who was a Pacific Region President for PTK, is now co-president of the entire international body as a result of successful her social media campaign and speech at the society’s headquarters in Colorado.
Phi Theta Kappa helps constituents and students across the globe with internal and external scholarships that can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars, she said.
Upon graduation from Waipahu High School next year, she will also receive an Associate’s degree for classes she completed at Leeward Community College and UH West Oahu. Ancheta was born and raised on the island of O’ahu in Hawai’i.
According to the PTK website, her goal is to attend a prestigious university and obtain a Bachelor’s in Business Management and set up a business empire that will help local communities be “Christ-centered.”
