/ 10:55 AM December 14, 2022

A former DJ famous for his work on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss, died at 40. He committed suicide. His wife, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed his death.

Boss rose from his humble beginnings as a contestant on MTV’s The Wade Robson Project to the heights of fame, eventually competing in So You Think You Can Dance season 4. His impressive technique earned him a runner-up spot in 2008, and fans were happy to see him return as an All-Star. He was a judge for the show’s revival in 2022.

Stephen “tWitch” Boss’ wife shared the news with People with a heavy heart. “It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share that my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and the light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

Allison continued, “To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”

Stephen Boss is survived by his wife, Allison, and their three kids, Zaia, 3, Maddox, 6, and Weslie, 14.

In a closing statement, Allison shared a heartfelt message for her husband. “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

In 2014, Boss took the plunge as a guest DJ on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” Then, he developed into a permanent fixture of the series. He quickly gained recognition for his skill in mixing music. After years of hard work and dedication to the show, his hard work paid off when he became a co-executive producer in 2020.

The late star was a true showbiz sensation. He not only hosted Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings with his wife, Allison. But he also had many acting credits under his belt. His appearances in Magic Mike XXL and Step Up All In were bigger hits than expected, and he managed to add an honest quirkiness to comedic roles in Modern Family.
