Twitter CEO and billionaire Elon Musk was booed after being brought onstage by Dave Chappelle during Chappelle’s comedy show at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Sunday, December 11.
In a viral video posted on Twitter, the crowd can be heard booing and jeering at Musk, who has recently been met with controversy following his purchase of the Twitter social media platform.
“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle announces to the audience. Though some cheered for Musk, there is a noticeably loud amount of booing coming from the crowd.

Elon Musk reacts to being booed
In response to the negative reaction, Musk turns to Chappelle and asks, “You weren’t expecting this, were you?”
“It sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle quips – referring to Musk’s firing of half of Twitter’s staff of 7,500 and the majority of its senior leadership after taking control of the platform.
Musk also tweeted about the incident, replying to a Twitter user who referenced the incident while responding to one of Musk’s tweets.
In the original tweet, Musk wrote: “My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci” and “Truth resonates …”
The user then replied, “So does a crowd of boos.”
Musk then wrote, “Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter).”
“It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists … but nahhh,” he added.
