A new trailer drops for Avatar 2, and it is visually breathtaking. Full of CGI action, this James Cameron sequel promises to be as epic as the first movie.

“Avatar: The Way of Water” is the sequel to Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster hit. The first Avatar movie still holds the record for the highest-grossing film of all time. It earned a gross of $2.7 billion worldwide.

The much-anticipated Avatar sequel depicts a plot full of underwater adventure. Its new trailer dropped on ESPN during a Monday night football. This brand new trailer reveals a bit of the sequel even more.

Furthermore, with a budget of $250 million, Avatar 2 is one of the most expensive movies. The high cost can be seen in the new trailer. One can say James Cameron has outdone himself once again. The impressive CGI shows it is a movie worth watching on the big screen.

James Cameron has been working on ‘Avatar: The Way of the Water’ since 2013. He told GQ that for the film to earn, it would “have to be the third or fourth highest-grossing film in history. That’s your threshold. That’s your break even.”

Moreover, the footage starts with Na’vi flying over creatures with wings. Then it shows a massive view of the people’s wonderful water world. The scene then jumped off to the robotic intruders heading onto the Na’vi’s shores. Sweet moments with Sully’s extended family playing together followed after.

As per 20th Century Studios’ description of the film, Avatar 2 is “set more than a decade after the events of the first film.” It also “tells the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.”

Although the new Avatar 2 trailer doesn’t show much of the plot, Jake Sully had great exposure. In the first movie, he was a former human who left his body to become one of the Na’vi blue aliens.

Aside from being the director, James Cameron also co-wrote ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ The movie stars Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Sigourney Weaver. It will hit theaters on Dec.16.
