Netflix will now let you remove devices from your account

/ 09:28 AM November 16, 2022

A new feature allows you to manage access and devices on Netflix. It has a straightforward name, “Manage Access and Devices.”

The function will help Netflix encourage people sharing accounts to pay for their own. Also, it may come in handy if you want to remove users from your account.

Everyone worldwide may use the feature starting today. Moreover, Netflix says it works for all iOS and Android devices.

It will open your most recent devices and their corresponding types. For example, you will see if your Netflix account logged on to a Roku TV.

Moreover, Manage Access and Devices on Netflix lets you see their IP addresses and the date and time they last entered a subscriber’s account.

The platform will suggest changing your password whenever you sign out on an unregistered device. Also, account owners will receive login alerts via email.

The new feature coincides with Netflix’s plans to charge a password-sharing fee. In 2023, the company will not let you share your account with people outside your registered home.

Instead, you must create sub-accounts for them as extra members. Each will have separate login credentials, profiles, and personalized settings.

Netflix will also implement a Profile Transfer tool to help users carry over the following details from another account:

  • Viewing history
  • Saved games
  • Personalized recommendations
  • My List
  • Other settings

Initial tests in Peru, Costa Rica, and Chile charged $2.99 per sub-account. US users would likely need to pay $3.50 to $4.00 once the feature rolls out.

Aside from managing access and devices on Netflix, you may sign up for Netflix with Ads next year.

The company first implemented the feature in the United States. It costs $6.99 monthly, $3.00 cheaper than the current Basic tier fee.

The new subscription plan will show four to five minutes of commercials every hour. Later, Netflix will reduce the length to 15 to 30 seconds. Also, the Ad tier will have fewer series and movies than the Basic plan.

Conclusion

You can manage access and devices on Netflix starting today. It enables users to remove unused profiles on their accounts.

The feature also helps you track the activity of other users under your account. It could help Netflix tap into free users as competitors take some of its customers.
