Wendy’s announces first-ever holiday-themed Frosty

/ 08:44 AM November 11, 2022

Before the holiday season kicks in, Wendy’s launched its new Frosty flavor. For the first time ever, the fast-food chain will add a holiday-themed flavor to its menu.

Customers can avail of this holiday Wendy’s Frosty treat starting next Tuesday. It will only be available for a limited time. This holiday drink features a peppermint flavor. It will replace the strawberry flavor that Wendy’s released last summer.

The strawberry flavor was a huge hit, and the company strategized its plans to produce another new flavor. Furthermore, the company refused to disclose any figures on their sales for Wendy’s Frosty strawberry flavor. The management just said that it had “great success,” and they want to keep the momentum.

Wendy’s chief marketing officer Carl Loredo said, “It’s an accelerated path, but it’s something we’ve been working on for a few years,” he said. “[Peppermint] was a flavor that we knew consumers liked—ultimately, the commercialization piece [was an aspect] we needed to finalize quickly, but it’s been something we had our minds.” He also added that he “wouldn’t be surprised” if new Wendy’s Frosty flavors came up as early as next year.

In addition, it also marks Wendy’s third new Frosty flavor in the US for the last 16 years. Wendy’s has leveled up from its traditional vanilla and chocolate flavor Frosty.

Loredo said in a CNN interview, “Folks enjoyed the strawberry Frosty enough that we knew it was important to get after another flavor and one that would tie well with the holidays. Peppermint is amazing and a great way to ring in the holiday season.”

Unlike McDonald’s and its McFlurry, Wendy’s doesn’t usually add a new mix of flavors to its Frosty. The last Wendy’s FRosty line addition was in 2019 when the company added a birthday cake Frosty, for its 50th birthday. In 2006, vanilla Frosty came to the menu, while strawberry was added just last year.

Fast food chains have seen the hype of seasonal drinks and food, which brings in sales. Similar to how Starbucks has just recently released its Holiday collection of tumblers and cups
