Migos member Takeoff shot and killed in Houston
The famous rap trio Migos member Takeoff was shot and killed early Tuesday morning in Houston, Texas. His attorney and police officials confirmed that the 28-year-old rapper was dead.
Takeoff’s attorney Drew Findling said, “Along with my firm, I am devastated by the tragic death of Kirshnik Ball, famous to his fans as Takeoff. He was not only a brilliant musical artist with unlimited talent but also a uniquely kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed now and always.”
Around 2:34 am local time, the police received a call about an emergency shooting in progress. The officers came to the scene at 210 Billiards & Bowling Houston, where a private party was held, and one man was dead at the bowling alley entrance. Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner stated in a press conference on Tuesday.

Finner is urging witnesses to come forward and help them with information on the events of that party. He cited, “There were 40 people, at least, at this event. And people left, possibly out of fear,” Finner said. “I ask you one thing … What if it was your brother? What if it was your son? You would want somebody to step up. So please step up. Get the information to us so we can give some closure to this family who is hurting right now.”
Aside from Takeoff, two others have injuries and are still at the hospital. According to the police, the 24-year-old-female and 23-year-old-male could get through the hospital via private transportation. Both of them suffered injuries that were not severe and life-threatening.
Although the police don’t have any suspects in custody, an investigation is underway. The officers also asked the public to report any significant details while the detectives were still reviewing the surveillance recordings. They are also closely watching the photos and videos from the social media of the party attendants.

Takeoff’s shooter
In addition, Finner confirmed that the shooter used two firearms. According to their reports, there were also 40 or 50 guests at the private party. They strongly believe that the shooter is also one of the party attendees.
Finner also stated that without any speculations, there were no pieces of evidence that Takeoff had any involvement in “anything criminal” at the time of the party. Finner said, “Everyone spoke of what a great young man this is, how peaceful he is, what a great artist.”
However, Finner can’t confirm yet if Takeoff was the target of the shooting or how many times the shooter shot him. Furthermore, Fellow Migos member and Takeoff’s uncle, Quavo, seem to be attending the party. But the police didn’t confirm if he was there on Tuesday afternoon.

Finner said he had interviewed Takeoff’s mother, who went out of town before the Tuesday conference. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner also met with her. Turner said, “It doesn’t matter how famous you are. You may not be famous at all.”
Furthermore, Takeoff’s death strikes a blow in the Hip-Hop community. After rapper PnB Rock’s fatal shooting in September, here comes another sad news. Fellow artists took to social media to express their condolences and pay tribute.
Takeoff has been a part of the Hip-Hop world for quite some time now. He started performing with his uncle Quavo and Offset in their trio Migos in 2008. They became popular with their hit “Versace” in 2013.
In 2016, their popularity took up a notch when they released their single “Bad and Boujee.” The song featured recording artist Lil Uzi Vert. It also became a hit single gracing the internet and giving life to memes that played the lyrics “rain drop, drop top.”
