New street festival ‘Fun Philippines’ coming to Toronto

/ 11:31 AM July 19, 2022

A new street festival is coming to Toronto on July 23-24, featuring tons of food vendors, carnival rides and cultural installations for visitors to enjoy.

Fun Philippines, organized by the Philippine Legacy and Cultural Alliance (PLACA), will take place at Bathurst St. and Wilson Ave in North York. Besides food, cultural installations and performances will showcase the country’s diverse offerings.

“There will be more interactive and engaging activities that visitors can participate in. Instead of just making it about food, the goal of Fun Philippines is to really showcase the Philippines as a country,” explained PLACA Executive Director Teresa Torralba.

“[The Philippines has] so many different dialects, cultures and cuisines – it’s really like Canada in how multicultural it is.”
