A Filipina American woman was charged with aggravated assault after witnesses said she repeatedly punched a 60-year-old man during an unprovoked attack at the Fort Street Mall.

Valerie Tumbaga, 23, was arrested around 6.30 p.m. on Saturday shortly after the alleged attack.

Witnesses say the man was eating a sandwich outside a fast food restaurant when the woman punched him twice in the face. Tumbaga’s bail was set at $11,000.

This is not Tumbaga’s first brush with the law. According to CrimeSpotter, on April 10, 2018 Tumbaga was arrested for theft at a Waikiki 7-Eleven store and assaulting a store clerk. She was later wanted for $20,000 bench warrant for breaking her probation.
