Filipino landlord in Hawaii arrested as alleged burglar, peeping Tom
HONOLULU – A Filipino landlord in Waipahu was arrested on suspicion of setting up a camera in his tenant’s bathroom and burglarizing her unit.
Luciano Agas, 60, was booked Wednesday, June 8, for burglary and invasion of privacy. Ironically, a camera installed by his tenant caught Agas in the act of entering the tenant’s unit, rifling through her personal effects and eating her food.
“She actually received a photograph from him via text ― a photograph of her naked ― that he probably took from her bathroom,” Andrew Daisuke Stewart, attorney for the victim, told Hawaii News Now.
The arrest was largely based on footage from the tenant’s security camera, where Agas also was seen taking a pipe out of his jacket to smoke a suspected drug.
The tenant filed a temporary restraining order in March and filed a civil lawsuit in April. Police made the arrest after Hawaii News Now aired the tenant’s story.
Agas’ lawyers in the civil lawsuit said they will challenge the allegations.
