Hawaii’s FilCom Center files for bankruptcy

HONOLULU –The Filipino Community Center, Inc. (FilCom) filed for Chapter 11 protection from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Hawaii, case number 18-00109.

The center is headed by Executive Director Franz D. Juan and is located in Waipahu, Hawaii.

It is represented in bankruptcy proceedings by Chuck C. Choi of Choi & Ito, according to BankruptCompanyNews.com.

FilCom’s website says its “mission is to develop, own and operate a community center that provides social, economic and education services and to promote and perpetuate Filipino culture and customs in the state of Hawai’i.”

According to documents filed with the court, the center has estimated assets and liabilities at $1 to $10 million. In addition, funds will be available for distribution to unsecured creditors.
