U.S. military and police officers view ‘Fall of Bataan’ exhibit
Members of the U.S. military and police forces on April 28 attended an exhibit on the 80th anniversary of the “Fall of Bataan.”
The exhibit at the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco’s Kalayaan Hall is part of the ongoing education campaign on the legacy of Filipino veterans of World War II.
Bataan Legacy Historical Society Executive Director Cecilia Gaerlan explained that through the efforts of Filipino American organizations in California, the state became the first in the U.S. to teachPhilippine World War II history in the Grade 11 school curriculum.
The special exhibit was spearheaded by the Consulate, the Department of Tourism Office in San Francisco, the Filipino American Arts Exposition, the Bataan Legacy Historical Society, and the Philippine Scouts Heritage Society.
