SAN FRANCISCO – An online roundtable discussion featuring some of the trailblazing Filipino American women health leaders in the U.S. Pacific Northwest will mark National Women’s Month in the Philippines and Women’s History Month in the United States. The

Entitled “Women in Health: Leading Our Communities Out of the Pandemic and On the Road to Equity,” hosted by Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, will highlight the role of Filipina and Filipina American health leaders in the U.S. Pacific Northwest in turning the tide of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in creating a more equitable community in terms of access to health care.

“Amid the global health crisis and the social ills that came with it, these women leaders have not only shown excellence in their chosen careers, but have also exhibited the quintessential Filipino values of determination and resilience,” said Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer, who will address the online event.

The online roundtable discussion will be headlined by: Teresita Batayola, International Community Health Services (ICHS) President and CEO; Dr. Julieta Gabiola, Advocacy, Betterment, Commitment (ABC’s) for Global Health President and CEO, and Stanford University Professor; Dr. Karen Relucio, Napa County Health and Human Services Agency Deputy Director and Public Health Officer, and California State Senator Bill Dodd’s “Woman of the Year” Awardee; and Zenei Triunfo-Cortez, RN, California Nurses Association President.

Aileen Cassinetto, Poet Laureate of San Mateo County, will give a tribute to the medical front liners of the COVID-19 pandemic through community poetry.
