Haven Dispensaries raises over $40,000 for charity this holiday season
Over 1,000 children in Southern California have received early Christmas presents this year thanks to HAVEN Dispensaries’ fundraising and volunteer efforts.
Throughout December, HAVEN has held its annual Holiday Toy Drive Fundraiser to ensure that as many underserved children in their local communities have presents under the tree as possible this Holiday Season. In partnership with Local Hearts Foundation, Disabled American Veterans Ch. 12, and Southeast Rio Vista YMCA, HAVEN donated over 1,000 unopened toys and gift cards to those in need. Tito “Hood Santa” Rodriguez, Executive Director of Local Hearts Foundation, said this about HAVEN’s efforts. “We want to thank HAVEN for the partnership. They made over one thousand children’s Christmas possible this year. It takes us to save us.”
In addition to the donations, more than 35 current HAVEN staff members showed up to the various events across Los Angeles and the Inland Empire to volunteer their time and ensure that as many children that need a little extra help this year receive it. From soccer balls and scooters to action figures and stuffed animals, children of all ages left these events with something exciting to open on Christmas this year.
Haven Hearts, the charitable arm of HAVEN Dispensaries, has ramped up the giving this winter. By participating in Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaways, handing out hygiene backpacks to the homeless, and Toy Drive Fundraisers, their creative fundraising and tireless volunteer efforts are making a vast impact in their local communities. In fact, since November, they has raised more than $40,000, all of which has been donated and reinvested to benefit the communities that they serve. “This has been a challenging few years for all of us, our youth in particular. So we are grateful to have such amazing staff and partners to team up with and bring a smile to so many kids’ faces. Events like these are what make the Holidays so special, but it is Haven Heart’s mission to make this type of giving a year-round thing!” says Mike Cuccia, Haven’s Director of Community Development.
