Today Mike is a dedicated author who shares his expertise and experience by laying it down on ink. He is the author of six books, creator of over thirty-five online courses, and the voice of over one hundred and twenty podcast episodes. Mike has also had the privilege to train over a half-million students on topics covering Azure, AWS, DevOps, Kubernetes, and Web Development. He is fully dedicated to imparting others his knowledge, and he publishes a new podcast episode on CloudSkills.fm providing technical tips and career advice for people working with cloud-native technologies. Mike also shares the podcast on YouTube, where you can learn more about his experience and expertise in the tech world.

Throughout his career, Mike has achieved notable career highlights, including becoming the Microsoft MVP in Microsoft’s highly exclusive influencer program. He is a passionate tech expert who has also worked for the biggest names in the tech and business world, including Microsoft and Amazon.

The journey to success comes with numerous life lessons, and Mike often shares them to help others learn from his experiences. A fast learner and a highly ambitious individual, Mike says that his major challenge was putting up with some of the organizational cultures. He finds it a main issue across the tech industry as many firms have major cultural issues that stem from the earliest days of technology. Too many people are insecure about “looking bad” or admitting they don’t know something. There is also toxic masculinity and never-ending “us vs. them” politics. Bad company culture has always slowed down his ability to innovate.

Fortunately, other big tech companies such as Amazon encourage creativity, and Mike takes pride in having the opportunity to work with them. However, Mike still believes there is a lot to be done, and that’s why he has made a big part of his brand going forward. He wants to encourage young people to tap into their creativity and get to live their potential.

According to him, the industry is going through a skills crisis, and it’s more sad to think there aren’t enough people to fill all the available positions. He wants to change the old way of keeping up, as it isn’t going to work because the pace of innovation is moving at breakneck speed.

“We need more young talent in the tech world. There are opportunities for all types of people and personalities. I never thought I would end up making a career and helping others in the tech world. College failed me in its teaching style. I think there are students who don’t think a fulfilling, high-paying career in tech is feasible for them because they don’t get good grades. I want to help show them that it’s possible for them,” says Mike.

Mike’s dream is to redefine how people learn and upskill to build their careers in the tech industry. He wants to be known for injecting the most effective engineers into the job market and helping people land high-paying jobs.
