‘Global Filipinos for Leni’ launched
NEW YORK CITY – Well-known Filipina American community activist Loida Nicolas Lewis and leading Filipina community leader in California Rocio Nuyda on Sept. 25 launched an international movement of Filipinos in support of VP Leni Gerona Robredo for President. The group is known as Global Filipinos For Leni or GFFL for short.
The virtual launching, emceed by popular Fil Am vlogger Janelle So, welcomed more than a hundred charter members from 16 countries, including the US.
In a taped video message, VP Robredo praised Filipinos abroad for their patriotism that even if they are far from their native country, they still help, especially in times of catastrophe. She avoided mentioning politics in her greetings to GFFL members. But, she was thankful to all.
Loida Lewis said there will be more GFFL virtual meetings in the near future as she calls for more Pinoys to join by sending messages to [email protected]
Production of the 90-minute launch program was led by Rocio Nuyda and Bituin Aquino.
