Filipinos in Atlanta continue search for missing woman
SAN FRANCISCO – Members of the Filipino American community in Atlanta fanned out into the streets Dec. 29 to make residents aware that Cecilia Bustamante, a Filipina, is still missing after two long months.
Bustamante lives in Chamblee with her husband and 7-year-old son. She was last seen “frantically” leaving the Willy’s restaurant in Midtown Atlanta where she works.
Police said a friend in Baltimore, not Bustamante’s husband, reported her missing five weeks after she was last seen.
Members of the Filipino American Association of Greater Atlanta said they have a private investigator who will be investigating soon.
Chamblee Police is still looking for leads, saying the husband has been interviewed twice. However, an organizer of the community’s search effort referred to “a trouble relationship.”
A business card is reportedly taped to the door of the Bustamante residence, telling media to call a law firm.
Bustamante’s parents in the Philippines were reportedly trying to come but could not get a US visa.
