The COVID-19 pandemic rages on along with the demand for the fourth stimulus checks. Many Americans still have not found jobs since the lockdowns started. As a result, many people are guessing whether or not additional stimulus payments are on the horizon.

First, let’s see how the United States COVID assistance has been doing. Next, we’ll see why some believe more monthly payments are coming while others do not. As you’ll see, it might be better to find other ways to get by instead of waiting for the fourth stimulus check.

People in the United States still find it hard to find a job and reopen their small businesses. As a result, we hear more pleas for a fourth round of stimulus checks. If you were wondering about the new batch of payments, this might provide you with some answers.

Stimulus payments so far.

When President Joe Biden came into office, the country was still dealing with the coronavirus. That’s why it was his priority to deal with this public health issue.

The American Rescue Plan Act was one of his first major actions as president. This provided an amount of money for eligible Americans. So far, there were three rounds of payments:

  1. March 2020 – $1,200
  2. December 2020 – $600
  3. March 2021 – $1,400

Still, the unemployment rate is high at 5.9% as of June 2020. That’s around 9.5 million people who still have no jobs. In response, some states want to take matters into their own hands.

CA Governor Gavin Newsom proposed the $100 billion California Comeback Plan. He tweeted that ⅔ of California will get $600 checks. Those with children will get $500 on top of that.

The people of the Golden State may see financial help soon. As for the rest of the country, they’re left waiting for the fourth stimulus checks.

Why do some think the fourth stimulus checks are coming?

You’ll see this need for more stimulus on the internet. For example, an online petition calls for $2,000 monthly checks. It had around 2,679,276 signatures at the time of writing.

Vermont Governor Bernie Sanders also tweeted about his support. He listed the reasons why the American people need more stimulus checks.

Seven members of Congress also sent a petition for more stimulus as well. They cited several benefits that people got immediately because of the one-time payments.

Sadly, some people made fun of this situation. Pranksters sent out a link that explains how people can get more stimulus on July 30. However, it only showed an offensive photo.

Yet, many people fell for this fake link. This further highlights how much people want the fourth stimulus checks. Sadly, this may not come in the coming months.

Why we might not see more stimulus payments

Why we might not see more stimulus payments

White House press secretary Jen Psaki didn’t say for sure if the fourth stimulus checks are coming. She said on June 3 that the president is “open to a range of ideas” for stimulus aid.

However, she added that Biden already did what is “the most effective for the short term.” The most recent WH actions were the American Families Plan and the American Jobs Plan.

On June 24, the White House announced a scaled-back infrastructure deal. Sadly, it didn’t include child care, job training, or higher wages.

That announcement also said the President remains committed to the AJP and the AFP. Overall, the chances of getting a fourth round of stimulus look dim.

Didn’t get your stimulus check?

Didn’t get your stimulus check?

If you didn’t get your share of the stimulus, you might have to file a 2020 tax return. This will allow you to get the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit. For more info, please get in touch with the IRS.

While you’re at it, you may want to check the other unemployment insurance benefits. Then, you may check if you qualify for these other programs:

  • FPUC – You may get $300 worth of weekly payments if you qualify. This is on top of the regular unemployment benefit. It lasts until September 6, 2021.
  • PEUC – If you’ve used up all your weekly payments, this lets you get more. You may file weekly claims up to 53 weeks until the 6th of September.
  • MEUC – This is for people who earn a mix of regular and self-employed income. It lasts until September 6, 2021.
  • PUA – If you didn’t qualify for the regular UI benefits, this is for you. This lets you file weekly benefits for 79 weeks until September 6, 2021.

Note that these work differently depending on your state. You may have to submit certain requirements not needed in others. Please get in touch with your local government for more information.

If you have a family, you may apply for the Advance Child Tax Credit. This will give you monthly payments depending on several factors. Here are the benefits you may receive:

  • You’ll get $3,600 for each kid aged at least six years old.
  • For kids ages 6-17, you get $3,000.
  • As a parent, you’ll get the funds every month. This means $300 for every child under six and $250 for kids ages 6 to 17.

The original Child Tax Credit also provided tax refunds of up to $1,400 per child. Parents have started receiving payments on July 15. You may still apply, though.

Final Thoughts

Your financial situation doesn’t have to be a cliffhanger. Instead of waiting on the “will they/won’t they” of the White House, why not try other methods?

For example, you might want to start selling unused knick-knacks. Then, try to write a budget. These can help you make full use of your remaining funds.

If you can, try to build emergency savings. This can help you meet sudden expenses easily. You won’t have to rely on debt as well.
