Colorado man booked for killing, burying Filipina wife
A Colorado man was charged with first-degree murder in the death of his Filipina wife after police recorded him admitting the crime to his ex-wife, according to an affidavit signed by a Colorado detective.
Dane Kallungi, 37, was arrested on June 16 in New Mexico and jailed in Colorado for killing his wife, Jepsy Amaga Kallungi, 28, whom he met in an online dating site.
Audio of him telling his ex-wife, Alaine Kallungi, that he’d killed Jepsy ended the two-year investigation, according to an affidavit obtained by Oxygen.com.
A detective recorded a phone conversation where Dane Kallungi explained details of the killing, according to the affidavit. He allegedly said he was “just trying to literally get the words from coming out of her mouth.” The police affidavit said Kallungi strangled Jepsy and then buried her body.
Dane Kallungi allegedly attacked her in March after she had a sexual relationship with a soldier in Fort Carson.
Jepsy moved from the Philippines to Colorado Springs in July 2017 to marry her boyfriend, Kallungi. The two had originally met online but their relationship was described by a friend as “toxic.”
Jepsy’s mother, Margie Amaga, lived in Hong Kong, but maintained close contact with her daughter via Facebook Messenger. March 20, 2019, would be the last time Margie would hear from Jepsy before the latter went missing.
