Fil-Am lawyers hail Bonta’s selection as California attorney general
CHICAGO – California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s appointment of Assemblymember Rob Bonta as California’s 26th Attorney General drew enthusiastic approval from Filipino American lawyers.
The National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA) released a statement that reads in part:
“As Anti-Asian hate and acts of violence has risen in California and across the country, we commend Governor Newsom for his commitment to protecting the AAPI community by ensuring that California’s chief law enforcement officer will understand, listen to, empathize with, and is fully committed to protecting the AAPI community.
“NFALA was proud to be the very first bar association, along with all six of our California affiliates, Filipino American Lawyers of San Diego (FALSD), Philippine American Bar Association (PABA), Filipino-American Lawyers of Orange County (FLOC), Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC), Filipino American Lawyers Association of Silicon Valley-Monterey (FALA-SVM), and Sacramento Filipino American Lawyers Association (SacFALA) to support Assemblymember Bonta for California AG in December 2020.
“Assemblymember Bonta will continue to be a champion for our community in his new role and will make us proud.”
