/ 08:43 AM August 17, 2020

Over 35,000 viewers have joined the 2020 Pistahan Virtual Parade and Festival in celebrating Filipino culture and cuisine across three streaming platforms: FacebookYouTube, and Kumu, with nearly half of all viewers tuning in from Kumu. Tuning into Pistahan were viewers from all over the world including the U.S., Philippines, Canada, and the Gulf Region including United Arab Emirates, Saudia Arabia and Qatar. This year’s Pistahan featured special celebrity guests: Lea Salonga, Jocelyn Enriquez, Ruby Ibarra, Apl.de.Ap (Black Eyed Peas); Broadway star siblings Adam and Arielle Jacobs; Bobby Rubio, writer and director of “Float,” Pixar’s first animated short film featuring Filipino lead characters; Patricio Ginelsa director of Lumpia with a Vengeance; Carlyle Nuera, lead designer for Barbie Signature at Mattel; Jenifer K Wofford, commissioned artist by the Asian Art Museum; Jericho Malabonga winner of Survivor Australia; and many more.

With the theme “One Community: United in Hope and Healing,” Pistahan is raising funds to support the most vulnerable seniors and families with food and essential supplies provided by West Bay Pilipino Muti-Service Center, violence prevention programs for at-risk youth led by United Playaz and support programs to sustain Filipino values and cultural traditions by FAAE.

Virtual Pistahan hosted an informative session with Search to Involve Pilipino Americans’ (SIPA) “Let’s Talk About Mental Wellness” with Eddy M. Gana Jr., MSW (SIPA); Adrienne Hament, LCSW (Filipino Well-Being Collaborative); Ana Jayme, LMFT (Asian Pacific Counseling and Treatment Centers); Dr. Christine Catipon, PsyD (Division of Filipino Americans of Asian American Psychological Association; Andrea Jakucs, MSW (Special Service for Groups Alliance); Katuuran Lyn Pacificar (Herbalaria); Marco Antonio (Salamat Yoga); and Leah Angela Sahagun (1 Mindful Breath)
