SAN JOSE, California — GTC World Media launched its new film and book, Silicon Valley Secrets, which reveal the magic of Silicon Valley while exploring the lives of extraordinary people in the region who have turned the southern end of San Francisco Bay into the world’s leading center of technical innovation.
The book, based on the documentary film, Silicon Valley Secrets, is designed to provide educational messages to its readers, be they students, entrepreneurs or seasoned investors.
As the book illustrates, Silicon Valley is not just a place or concept, but a community that supports people, from start-ups and failures to dreamers and entrepreneurs, all who are willing to uproot their lives for a chance of making it the world of innovation.
Over the past 50 years, Silicon Valley has been the center of a technological revolution that has transformed the world. From the integrated circuit came the personal computer and the software that made it useful, the Internet which connects people around the globe and the huge server farms that make the Internet searchable. Mobile phones were then developed that make communication easy, and social media that makes it possible for anyone to become a global pop star or a revolutionary.
Documentary
The “Silicon Valley Secrets” documentary film begins by exploring the origins of the Valley’s success. It features archival material of the early pioneers from the 1940’s and 1950’s, the nurturing influence of Stanford University, and the entrepreneurs, scientists and venture capitalists who are leading the Valley and the world into an increasingly high-tech, interconnected future.
Ted Unarce, executive producer of GTC Films, conducted on-camera interviews with leaders from different Silicon Valley industries, leading venture capital firms, and with ambitious young entrepreneurs, most of whom will never make it to the top.
By interviewing several rising entrepreneurs, Unarce takes the pulse of the Valley’s culture today while providing a window into technologies of the future. The interviews also explore how new ventures are financed and the effort it takes to attract investors. This documentary taps into the vibrant energy of the dreamers who make Silicon Valley’s culture so unique.
‘Exciting project’
“This was an exciting and interesting project and we are pleased to announce its release,” says Unarce. “Beyond just touching on the extraordinary people who make up the Silicon Valley, the film also delves into the Silicon Valley’s many challenges, including the misuse of technology by both private and public institutions, the invasions of privacy that technology makes possible, and the implications for culture as our children increasingly spend their time in front of a screen rather than engaging with friends or family.”
“Silicon Valley Secrets” concludes with an overview of the numerous tech hubs that have emerged in the wake of the Valley’s success. From New York City and Bangalore to Boston and Tel Aviv, the Valley has inspired competition. The film further explores whether Silicon Valley has what it takes to stay on top.
