Filipino Fulbright scholar named to top nursing credentials post

Dr. Jasper Tolarba, a Filipino Fulbright Scholar, has been named Director of Global Standards and Qualifications by CGFNS International, Inc. BU

PHILADELPHIA – Dr. Jasper Tolarba, a Filipino Fulbright Scholar, has been named Director of Global Standards and Qualifications by CGFNS International, Inc., the world’s largest credentialing organization for foreign-educated nurses and health professionals.

Tolarba, DNP, RN, will lead CGFNS’ programs on global standards and qualifications for health professionals by “collaborating with global leaders in the fields of education, regulation, accreditation and practice to promote innovation and the advancement of harmonization to enhance cross-border mutual recognition,” the organization announced recently.

Tolarba returns to CGFNS after completion of his research as a J. William Fulbright Scholar at the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) in Jordan. He first joined CGFNS in 2016 as Director of Credentials Evaluation Services.

He will continue to serve as Director of CGFNS’ International Consultants of Delaware (ICD) division, a globally recognized provider of credentials evaluation services and charter member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Tolarba received his Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where he concentrated in Health Policy. He holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as a Master of Arts in Education from Bicol University in the Philippines, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He pursuing a second doctorate in Nursing Education with a concentration in Curriculum Evaluation from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.
