PH Madrigal Singers to perform in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO — The Philippines’ world-renowned and highly acclaimed choral group, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, will be coming to San Francisco to give a special concert.
The Philippine Madrigal Singers is a musical ensemble composed of students, faculty and alumni of the University of the Philippines. Its repertoire ranges from Renaissance and classical music to international and Filipino folk songs, as well as to avant-garde, contemporary and pop music.
The Madz, as they are commonly called, are known for their exceptional singing prowess and signature seated performances.
In 2009 UNESCO recognized the group as Artists for Peace. Among its many accolades are the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing (1997 and 2007), the Brand Laureate Premier Award from the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (2012), and most recently, the Grand Prix in the 64th International Choral Competition (2016).
The Madz’ highly anticipated performance in SF, “Voices of Peace” is being presented by the Holy Name of Jesus Parish.
