Los Angeles’ first film festival focused on environmental issues is set to kick off on July 27, with Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Sequel” selected as its opening night film.

The Earth Focus Environmental Film Festival will run until July 29, with five additional acclaimed films — each tackling important and relevant global environmental issues — set to play as part of the program, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

The free event launched by KCETLink Media Group will take place at Hollywood’s iconic Egyptian Theater in partnership with American Cinematheque and sponsors that include Green Wish, a grassroots nonprofit that helps other local nonprofit green organizations fund projects for their communities, and Deadline.com, the official media sponsor for the festival. Also partnering closely on the event is the Washington, D.C.-based Environmental Film Festival (DCEFF).
