Adao and his attacker were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Adao died from his injuries.

The home invasion victim’s parents own Jimel’s Bakery in Winnipeg.

No connection between the attacker and Adao was evident and the home invasion seemed random, police stated.

Adao’s parents, Jim and Mel Adao, own Jimel’s Bakery, which has sites on Bannatyne Avenue and Sheppard Street.

Employees at the bakery told Global News the bakery will be closed for a week.

Winnipeg School Division spokesperson Radean Carter confirmed Jaime was a student at Tec Voc High School, starting in Grade 9 and was slated to graduate from Grade 12 this year.

“He’s touched many, many lives at Tec Voc,” she said.

Carter told Global News that Jaime was a well-known, liked and popular student.
