Future of iPhone 2019

02:00 AM March 06, 2019

iPhone users and avid fans have been waiting eagerly for any announcements in 2019. But the question lies between, “Will it be a whole new innovation, or just an upgrade of the previous models?” iPhone 2019, the iPhone 11, might just possess the features needed to bring Apple back to the top.

One of the most respected Apple analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo, revealed his 2019 predictions for the brand and its products.

iPhone 2019 Specs:

  • frosted glass casing
  • reverse wireless charging
  • upgraded face ID
  • triple-lens camera system
  • larger battery size
  • same screen size as the current XR and XS
  • lighting ports

Although it is not the iPhone SE2 that many were looking forward to, the good news is that both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will launch their new product in a promotional red color, which is a new design technique from Cupertino.

According to Gordon Kelly, a senior contributor at Forbes:

“The leak reveals iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max Product(RED) editions are coming before the end of the month. This is exciting news as both phones have a steel chassis, a material which had previously stopped Apple from launching this iconic option with the iPhone X. So clearly a breakthrough has been made, which also opens up a world of future possibilities.

Interestingly, iPhoneHacks reveals the launch will begin in China before the end of the month. Apple (which has never used the Product(RED) brand in China due to political taboos) will attempt to woo Chinese buyers by calling the finish ‘China Red’.”

However, one new feature for Apple is the reverse wireless charging, wherein you can charge your handset using another handset wirelessly. Sound familiar? Well, this is not new for Android users as Huawei Mate 20 Pro released that same product last year. While this might sound good for some users, other Apple customers are still waiting for the AirPower, a charging pad released by Apple in 2017 that was included in the iPhone XS manual but continues to be a no-show.

So, what is in store for us in 2019? So far, no news yet. And it seems like, new-feature wise, Apple has no innovation left for the new year. That being said, the company lost its top spot from the “Most Innovative List” as Harry McCracken emphasizes:

“Apple’s most impressive new product of 2018 wasn’t a phone or a tablet, but a chip: the A12 Bionic. At a time when it remains tougher than ever to induce consumers to upgrade, as proven by Apple’s surprise January move to cut revenue guidance on sluggish iPhone sales, the innovative chip design positions the company to create a whole new generation of irresistible experiences.”

Ming-Chi Kuo has also spoken out about his predictions for other products such as the iPad, iMac, and the possibility that Apple Pay may be getting its own credit card.

In regards to the iPads, Joe Rossingol states,

“…According to Kuo, Apple plans to release two new iPad Pro models, a 10.2-inch iPad, and a refreshed iPad mini, each equipped with an upgraded processor, later this year.

…According to Kuo, the 9.7-inch iPad will be bumped up to 10.2 inches in 2019. No other details on the “two new iPad Pros” are given, but a release would likely be later in 2019 given their relatively recent updates.”

Kuo also believes that Apple will release a new 31.6-inch display monitor with 6K resolution for the iMac.

Since the last update in 2017, there hasn’t been a lot of news regarding the new iMac. William Gallagher from appleinsider.com has some thoughts on this:

“An iMac update that comes in the first half of 2019 is not going to tread on the toes of any other Apple Mac release. The trouble is that if it’s any later than that, other releases will tread on its toes instead. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has said nothing about the iMac but he has spoken about competing products —and that doesn’t just mean other Macs. He claims that alongside the new Mac Pro, Apple is going to launch a new display that he’s referring to as a 6K3K one. It will reportedly feature a 6,144 x 3,072 dpi resolution.

More people are going to want that display than want the Mac Pro. And at 31.6 inches diagonally, that display is going to outshine one of the iMac’s greatest selling points. That display is going to tempt people who might otherwise have gone for the iMac.” In the case of Apple Watch, Kuo thinks that the 2019 roadmap for the gadget includes ECG heart-rate monitoring and a ceramic casing option. He also thinks that Apple AirPods 2 will be released with wireless charging support and upgraded Bluetooth connectivity. Ming-Chi Kuo and other Apple watchers may have many predictions ahead for the company, but there’s only one way to find out: to wait until Apple releases the products. However, with rumors of innovation lacking at the Apple headquarters, iPhone needs to bring out some cutting edge features to win over old fans and gain new ones.
