SAN FRANCISCO — The Coastal Act, a landmark piece of legislation that helped preserve California’s 1,100-mile coastline for generations of Californians, marked its 40th anniversary last year, 2016. California’s coast faces the combined risk of rising seas and development pressures.

Local activists explained what they are doing to engender a new and more diverse generation of coastal stewards during a panel discussion “A Time of Reckoning–Sea Level Rise, Public Access and a New Generation of Coastal Stewards”

last February 9, Crissy Field Center, Golden Gate Nat’l Recreation Area, Presidio, San Francisco.
