Alex Eala ‘fever’ sends US Open ticket prices soaring

Alex Eala’s growing popularity is making itself felt far beyond the tennis court, with fans scrambling for seats to her opening-round match at the US Open and driving resale ticket prices sharply upward.
Interest in watching the Filipina star’s first match against American qualifier Mary Stoiana surged after the tournament released its official order of play on Sunday, placing Eala on Louis Armstrong Stadium for a prime-time session.
Within roughly 12 hours of the announcement, the lowest-priced resale tickets for the session climbed from about $200 to nearly $400, according to TicketData Tracker founder Keith Slusser.

The increase was unlike anything seen elsewhere across the tournament.

“Alex Eala fever is running hot in NYC,” Slusser wrote on X while highlighting the remarkable demand surrounding the Filipina. He pointed out that resale prices for every other US Open session rose by less than 25 percent during the same period, making Eala’s match the only one to record an approximately 100-percent jump.

Tournament organizers assigned Eala’s opening match to the 14,000-seat Louis Armstrong Stadium, the second-largest court at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
She is scheduled to play the second match of the session, giving spectators a chance to see one of the tournament’s emerging stars under the spotlight.
Located beside Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong regularly hosts many of the event’s marquee matchups. Should Eala continue advancing through the draw, she could eventually find herself competing inside Arthur Ashe Stadium, the world’s largest tennis venue and the centerpiece of the US Open.
The spike underscores the growing excitement surrounding Eala, whose rapid rise on the WTA Tour has turned her into one of the most talked-about young players entering this year’s Grand Slam.
