Filipino singer and “The Voice” champion Sofronio Vasquez headlined the 128th Philippine Independence Day event on June 6 in Carson, California.

The early Independence Day celebration drew a large crowd to Veterans Park in Carson, home to one of the largest Filipino populations in the US.

Along with Vasquez, who performed a number of Filipino classics, X Factor finalist Mark Mabasa took the stage for a crowd-pleasing OPM set.

Hosted by the City of Carson in partnership with the Philippine Independence Day Foundation, the event showcased Filipino culture, live entertainment, market vendors, community booths and more.
