Fil-Ams in Massachusetts celebrate PH Independence Day with parade, gala

The Filipino American community in Massachusetts is set to celebrate the 128th anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence with a series of events throughout June.
The Philippine-American Mainstream Advocacy for Nonpartisan Associations, Inc. (PAMANA), in coordination with the Philippine Consulate General in New York, announced activities highlighting Filipino heritage, culture and community.

The celebration will begin with a festival and parade on Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at La Salette Shrine in Attleboro, Massachusetts.
A Philippine flag-raising ceremony will follow on Friday, June 12, at Boston City Hall. A reception will be held at 11 a.m. at the Piemonte Room, followed by the ceremony at noon at the Congress Street flagpole.

The festivities will conclude with a gala on Saturday, June 20, from noon to 4 p.m. at The Verve Hotel in Natick, Massachusetts.
The events are part of nationwide celebrations marking Philippine Independence Day and recognizing the contributions of Filipino communities across the United States.
The organizers established the Filipino Community Centennial Committee of New England, Inc., in April 1998 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Philippine Declaration of Independence, also known as the Philippine Centennial. In June 2006, the organization changed its name to PAMANA.
