Ever wished your favorite song sounded like it was playing live in the studio, right in front of you?
Spotify is finally making that dream a little more real. Premium subscribers in select regions are starting to get access to the platform’s most-awaited feature yet – “lossless” audio.
Lossless means you’re hearing the music exactly as it was recorded: every high note, every bass drop and all the subtle details that often get stripped away when songs are compressed into MP3s.
Spotify describes lossless as the highest audio quality option available on the platform, sitting above the usual low, normal, high and very high settings.
With streaming in up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC quality, Spotify is promising listeners the richest, clearest sound possible. Think of it as upgrading from regular TV to high-definition. It’s the same show, but the details pop like never before.

How to enable lossless on Spotify
To activate the feature, all you need to do is head over to the Spotify app and tap on your profile icon at the top left. From there, navigate to Settings & Privacy and open the Media Quality section. You’ll then be able to choose where you’d like to enable lossless playback.

Once activated, you’ll see lossless alongside Spotify’s other streaming quality tiers. Keep in mind that higher-quality audio also consumes more data and storage, especially when downloading tracks.
For years, subscribers have been asking Spotify to match competitors like Apple Music and Tidal, both of which already offered lossless options.
With its gradual rollout, premium users can now look forward to hearing music exactly as it was recorded.
