After previously sharing her biggest fear when performing onstage, Olivia Rodrigo has now dropped a quirky and delightfully cheesy tidbit that fans didn’t see coming.
In a recent episode of Vogue’s popular “In the Bag” series, where celebrities dig into their purse to reveal the personal items they carry daily, the Filipino American pop star had an unexpected item from her stylish cheetah-print vintage Fendi purse: Babybel cheese.
Yes, cheese. But not just any cheese as this red-wax-covered snack holds a special place in the Grammy-award winning artist’s heart.
“I love any type of cheese. My friends make fun of me for it, especially this one because they think it’s particularly elementary. I love [it] so much,” the “good 4 u” singer admitted with a laugh.
The 22-year-old Grammy winner shared that Babybel cheese isn’t just a quick snack for her as it’s a bite-sized reminder of her childhood and her childhood friends.
The “Drivers License” hitmaker fondly recalled how she and her friends used to sculpt miniature statues from the red wax casing and trade them during school days.
“We would trade each other little statues that we made out of [the red wax covering],” she said, adding with amusement that she doesn’t even remember what they used to create. “We must have been really creative ‘cause this is not very malleable.”
Rodrigo also expressed how much she enjoys playing with the wax just as much as she enjoys eating the cheese. “I love eating it and I love playing with the wax and making wax statues out of it. And they’re portable, really nice,” she said.
Her parting note? She always keeps one “locked and loaded” in her bag, ready for a snack or a bit of nostalgic fun, wherever she goes.
