After dominating Netflix charts with his recent projects, Anthony Jennings is set to conquer new heights as he stars in his first-ever international film, “Mother Maybe.”

Following the success of “Sosyal Climbers” with Maris Racal, which became the top movie on the platform, and his action series “Incognito” with Daniel Padilla claiming the number one spot, the Kapamilya actor is now venturing into the global film scene with an eerie atmosphere.

In an exclusive report by Variety, Jennings will take on the lead role in the upcoming horror-comedy directed by acclaimed Filipino filmmaker Sonny Calvento. Production is slated to begin in the final quarter of 2025.

The movie, “Mother Maybe,” centers on Marco (played by Jennings), a young man who reconnects with his long-lost mother during a high-stakes Asian game show. However, their emotional reunion takes a sinister turn when he discovers a terrifying secret – at night, his mother transforms into a monstrous creature.

Director Calvento praised Jennings’ acting range, explaining why he was the perfect fit for the role. “Anthony has this natural charm that makes him so easy to watch,” he said. “He can make you laugh one moment and make you cry the next, which is exactly what this role demands. This balance of comedic timing and emotional depth makes him the right fit for Marco.”

According to Variety, for director Calvento, “Mother Maybe” carries a deeply personal significance. He revealed that his own family strayed from the traditional close-knit Filipino structure, sharing that his mother left when he was just two years old and was rarely spoken about at home.
