Fox’s gripping crime drama “The Cleaning Lady” has officially returned for a fourth season, with Filipino American actor Alain Uy joining the cast as the cunning and elusive “Feng.”
Known for its intense storytelling and raw depiction of the immigrant experience, the series centers around Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung), a Cambodian Filipino doctor-turned-criminal who navigates the perilous underworld in a desperate bid to save her ailing son.
Uy’s character, Feng, adds a layer of complexity to the show’s crime-ridden landscape.
Described as wryly observant with a dangerous edge, Feng is a key player in the Asian mob, orchestrating intricate schemes that have earned him favor with international crime bosses.
In an exclusive interview with Inquirer.net USA, Uy teased the enigmatic nature of his role.
“He’s the one guy you wanna trust but can’t really trust,” Uy explained. “He’s sort of just observing and watching how all the mechanics work within the cartel.”
The actor further revealed that Feng is driven by ambition but remains careful not to reveal his hand too soon.
“He’s very secretive in terms of what he wants to happen,” Uy added, describing the character as a survivalist, comparing him to a raccoon – “always finding a way to make it through.”
Although Feng is portrayed as Chinese in the series, Uy expressed pride in seeing more Filipino representation on mainstream television.

“Growing up in LA, there wasn’t enough representation for us. I could count on one hand all the Filipino representation we had,” he shared. “It’s amazing to see all of us being part of this type of show.”
For Uy, playing a morally ambiguous character offers a creative thrill.
“There’s a lot more fun diving into these villainous roles,” he said. He also found Feng’s boldness liberating. “The fact that he’s toying with the line all the time, there’s a freedom that he has that I don’t personally have. The confidence he has is something I sometimes struggle with.”
With “The Cleaning Lady” returning to tackle even darker and more intricate storylines, fans can look forward to Uy’s riveting portrayal of Feng, whose cunning and unpredictability are sure to shake up the series’ already high-stakes world.
