Mattel Creations has recently unveiled Monster High’s Corazon Marikit, a doll inspired by the Philippines’ vampire-like mythical creature, the manananggal.
Mattel has offered a glimpse of Corazon Marikit on social media. The doll is dressed in traditional Filipino attire and features embroidered batwings, celebrating Filipino fashion and folklore.

“A feast of Filipino fashion and traditions, this manananggal maven is said to be able to separate her top and bottom halves to fly into the night,” according to Mattel Creations.
“A vision in foil print and fringe, along with beautifully embroidered batwings, Corazon Marikit saunters down a runway of jasmine, leaving her fangs screaming for more.”
Known for its ability to detach its upper body from its lower half, the manananggal is one of the most famous creatures in Philippine mythology.
Corazon Marikit comes with a doll stand and a unique mechanism that enables the doll’s upper body to slide up and down, while the lower body pivots and swivels, mimicking the detaching ability of a manananggal.
The manananggal doll – designed by Glenda Chiu as part of Monster High Designer Series 2 – also features “the most innovative, two-part packaging design,” allowing collectors to showcase the doll in various ways.

Corazon Marikit is the newest Mattel creation that pays homage to Filipino culture and heritage.
Last year, Mattel unveiled a Filipina Barbie designed by Los Angeles-based Fil-Am Carlyle Nuera to commemorate Filipino American History Month.
The Filipina Barbie features the radiant crown of the Philippine sun and fingers that sparkle with elegant gold janggay jewelry, worn by the Badjao people of Southern Sulu for their traditional dance.
Corazon Marikit costs $75 (approximately P4,200) and is available exclusively on Mattel’s website.
