Like many racers around the world, it’s always that one starting line that holds a special place in their hearts – the track where it all began, the first engine roar that set their dreams in motion.

For Filipina racer Bianca Bustamante, the spark that ignited her passion for racing began at the Carmona Racing Circuit in the Philippines.

In a sentimental interview for Google Pixel, the first Filipina McLaren development driver shared how the circuit shaped her journey, calling it the place where she “fell in love and broke her heart in racing.”

Carmona in Cavite, as Bustamante described, became her training ground not only for skills but also resilience.

“It’s seen me laugh, cry, bleed—it’s been a witness to everything: my joy, sadness, and growth,” she revealed.

The circuit also introduced her to tough competition, often racing against boys whose parents insisted they shouldn’t lose to a girl. Rather than discouraging her, this only fueled her determination.

“When I’ve got my helmet on and I’m inside my car, no one really knows if I’m a girl or boy. They just know me as a driver and I’m in complete control of what the outcome will be or what my future will look like. It’s that immense control that makes it so euphoric,” Bustamante said.

This foundation built at Carmona has propelled her to international circuits, culminating in a promising performance at the F1 Academy season finale at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Bustamante made her mark by finishing in the points in both Race 1 and Race 2, breaking a four-race dry spell.

While she did not fortunately land on the podium, her top-10 finishes showcased her growth and potential on the race track.

Reflecting on her journey, Bustamante credited Carmona for instilling her competitive spirit and passion.

“Thanks to Carmona, this was instilled in me from a young age,” she said.

From her early days at Carmona to scoring points on one of the world’s grandest stages, the Filipina driver continues to pave the way for aspiring racers, proving that dreams can come true with passion and determination.
